Creative & flattering style tips for all my curvy ladies! (Fall/Winter Edition)
just so ya'll know, i am an advocate for bigger ladies, being a plus size gal myself & all ;) ~
that said, i do realize the health benefits of being a thinner human and feel like we should all always try to be as healthy as possible. myself~ i have gained & lost quite a bit in my 30 odd years on this planet (having two children added to my struggle). i've probably been to weight watchers 3 to 4 different times (always losing around 30 some pounds, then quitting & gaining most back). it's HARD. i love food, i stress eat, i have a bad fancy/fatty coffee drink addiction, i have KIDS, and to top it all off i hate to exercise! i clearly see that i battle with this but i reached the point in my life that i just stopped letting my size DEFINE who i am, or how beautiful i feel. i'm always really bothered by people that obsess over it and make it destroy them. if you're on the band wagon and doing well, get it girl!! (or boy)! but if you aren't....you aren't. it happens <3
i will probably always deep down want to lose weight to be healthier or to feel a lil sexier but in the mean-time, i'm still me. i like fashion, i like to look good for my hubby~ i like to live and be as happy as possible at any size. & i encourage anyone else to do the same! so whether you're on or off the wagon~ keep trucking, keep smiling & don't stop attempting to look amazing!
& without further ado, some of my personal fashion tips~~>
~ you may love tshirts, they can be cool and all (especially cute off the shoulder ones, those are ok) but the bulk of T's are really bad for us curvy girls. they make us look bigger. they're either too big and frumpy or too tight and accentuate our bad features, (aka~tummy issues). so my advice~ (unless you're bumming around the house), just say no!
i hate T's so bad this is what i've done to a couple that have managed to hang around! creative idea though, super easy & they look cute with a cardigan for fall/winter.
~this one pains me to say cause i have a love affair w/ baby doll anything~ be VERY careful when picking dresses and tops that are "baby doll" style. people will think you're pregnant and it's awkward having to tell some DUDE (it's always a dude) that no you aren't preggo, you just like to wear maternity looking clothing and happen to be a curvy gal!! BUT you can and should still wear tops that collect under the breast area. you want tops that accentuate your good features...like possibly your boobs and the thinnest part of your waist (right under your boobs). so, don't be afraid to wear empire waist items, as long as the martial isn't super stiff or to "collecty/maternity" looking. a good trick is to ALWAYS look at your side angle in mirror. stuff that looks good from the front doesn't always have the same effect from the side (unfortunately)!!
higher waist yet still would be flattering on a curvy gal :)
**wearing long maxi/flowy skirts higher is a good way to show off the thinest part of your waist as well & is also very IN right now.
~you can NOT go wrong with dark anything from the waist down, i strongly advise it ;) black or dark washed jeans are always our bff's & dark tights/stretchy pants can work wonders. i have a pair of black legging style pants (a bit thicker than actual leggings) that i've been obsessed with lately!
i know these girls are thinner but i often have a hard time finding cute styles in the plus area! sad but true. these styles CAN be worn by a curvy gal! i would supplement a bit of a longer fitted or stretchy cotton black skirt for the first picture though, but other than that, piece of cake! ;-)
~ target, target, target...have i mentioned target????! okay, i'm cheap and i like to keep my style always a bit trendy (but never too trendy). target is paired up with some really amazing designers and always have the best clothes for soo many different sizes! be careful w/ the junior stuff. i may be 30 something but i still always veer towards the junior section. i can pretty much fit in the biggest junior sizes but that depends. pants can be an issue. just don't try to squeeze in something cute that don't really fit. & a lil tip~ feel free to take pics in the dressing room mirror with your cell cam. pictures sometimes are more of a realistic view of how clothing really looks. :)
hahaa!
~lane bryant has THE BEST BRAS EVER!! omg, don't even question that. just go there and splurge sometime when you have the extra money or they're having a deal on bras (which they often do). i actually don't really like lane bryant much at all, their clothing is waayyyy over priced and most of the time not really my style anyways. but their bras??? da bomb! super sexy and comfy and they last an eternity! i used to buy bras at victoria secret back when my boobs were smaller and i swear to you those things would last but a couple months (for me anyways). i have not found better than lane bryant's and now hate to buy a bra anywhere else.
i have two of these "lace plunge" one's, my favorite!

~always have one or two pairs of cute mid to high boots. they often pull together an outfit and if you dig a little heel action, heel's thin you out BIG TIME. they elongate your legs, but you probably already knew that ;)
~same thing w/ scarves. i have a ton & they also can really do an ensemble wonders. don't forget all the different ways you can wear them, so much fun!
~ cardigans are another clothing item i have a lot of. they make it possible to wear a lot of different tops and feel a little more covered up if a certain top/dress feels a bit to "showy". can't go wrong w/ them, a good black one is a must have!
~ lastly as you can probably tell, i love to layer. layering done right looks awesome & can help to hide problem areas as well. that's why i love cardigans and scarves, they are great layering items! just wearing a plan shirt & pants can sometimes be boring & look boring. instead layer shirt/tank, cardigan, scarf..maybe even a cute dangly earring, bam! one styling goddess <33 (just be careful not to go overboard). ;-)
i hope you enjoyed my fashion tips. stay tuned, i will eventually be sharing more pictures of my personal outfits and when that warmer weather rolls back around, a spring/summer style edition. thanx a heap for checking out my blog!
~peace & blessin's~
